When was the last time you got to fully utilise all your clinical skills?
 
Nursing at the Department of Corrections offers many unique opportunities to develop and practice your skills in a wide range of clinical areas. On any day a Prison Nurse may assess and manage people with a variety of health issues, challenging physical and mental health problems, substance abuse related issues, as well as respond to emergencies and provide health education.

We have a
dedicated and passionate team. A team of nurses run each Health Centre and work collaboratively with Doctors, Allied Health staff and custody personnel.  We’re united by our goal of making a positive difference in the lives of offenders, their families and the community.
 
We currently have several roles available and are looking for Registered Comprehensive or Registered General Nurses with:
·         Recent clinical experience in primary or secondary health care nursing;
·         A broad range of post-graduate clinical experience;
·         The ability to assess and respond to an emergency situation;
·         Experience in triage (desirable);
·         The motivation to continue learning and developing professionally;
·         A non-judgmental approach.
Shifts include weekend work, but no night shifts, as there is an on-call triage system in place overnight. 
 
These roles are based at Auckland Region Women’s Correctional Facility in South Auckland.
